“Hangover 2” Busts Box Office Records First Weekend Out Of The Gate

The Hangover is one buddy comedy that became an instant modern-day classic. Now its sequel seems to be doing the same, and has already raked in some serious cash over its opening weekend. Enough that it has broken a couple of records without even trying.

Pitted against other big openers like Kung Fu Panda 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, it has nevertheless passed both of them by with estimates of double the earnings for the four-day Memorial Day box office opening.

Already they have made millions, and the final projected estimate is an astonishing $105 million ( Kung Fu Panda 2 is expected to bring in $62 million, just for reference).

This is compared to the $44.9 million the first installment brought in opening weekend, with a gross of $277.3 million. That is a hell of a jump.

I haven’t seen this yet, but I literally CANNOT WAIT! I thought the first flick was brilliant, and with this becoming the greatest R-rated comedy earner of all time, I am venturing to bet that audiences are enjoying the rid with Part II.

Have you seen it yet? What did you think?
