The seemingly octopus inspired monstrosity that Princess Beatrice wore to the Royal Wedding seems to have hypnotic powers. That is the only explanation I have for how it scored $130,000 at auction.
Yes, that’s right, I said $130,000. That was the final bid when the eBay auction ended the other day for the peach, tentacle laden “hat” she pinned to her head for the ceremony between Prince William and Duchess Kate.
Immediately, the hat got more attention than even Kate’s dress, and it has continued ever since. Because of this, Beatrice decided to donate all proceeds of sale to two charities, UNICEF and Children In Need.
At least she did something good with it.
I can’t help but wonder – and I am sure I am not the only one – if the whole point of her wardrobe choice was a middle finger extended at the other royals for her mother’s snub. After all, Princess Eugenie was also wearing a rather ridiculous hat, and it seems like Fergie’s style to have her kids steal the show.
