Bret Michaels is suing CBS and the organizers of the Tony Awards over an accident he says led to a life-threatening brain injury.
He and his band Poison performed at the awards show June 2009.
Michaels was hit in the head by a piece of the set after their song as it was being changed. He busted his lip and broke his nose in the incident.
He claims the organizers of the show never explained that the set would be changing after the band performed, “Nothin’ But a Good Time.” The rocker also stated that the show could have prevented the incident from airing, but chose not to.
In April 2010, he was hospitalized and doctors found he had a brain hemorrhage and suffered a warning stroke later.
The lawsuit which was filed on Friday states, “Michaels was never told that the scenery piece would be descending or given any warning of the existence of the dangers it presented.”
A spokesperson for CBS did not comment on the suit.
