Forbes has named Leonardo DiCaprio as the highest grossing actor of 2010, followed closely by “Alice in Wonderland” stars Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska on #2.
DiCaprio starred in two box-office hits in 2010 – Inception and Shutter Island, which both earned up to $1.1 billion in cinema ticket sales this year. Although Leonardo DiCaprio took a pay cut for the dream thriller flick “Inception,” and agreed to split a share of the first-dollar gross points with director Nolan and didn’t choose to use his 20-million-dollar-per-movie pay cheque, he still earned at least $50 million for the film, plus revenues on DVD sales.
Following closely to DiCaprio are Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska at top 2 of the highest grossing stars of the year. Although Mia is a Hollywood newcomer, her main role in the Tim Burton film led her to millions this year. Who wouldn’t? She starred in “Alice in Wonderland,” which took home a whopping $1.03 billion at the box office. Wasikowska also starred in the movie “The Kids are Alright” alongside Annette Bening and Julianne Moore. The indie, low-budget flick has taken $29 million at the box office so far.
Aside from his earnings on “Alice in Wonderland,” Johnny Depp’s movie “The Tourist” alongside Angelina Jolie has earned at least $30 million in the box office after just one week.
“Iron Man 2” and “Due Date” star Robert Downey Jr came in 4th, while “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe ranked the fifth-highest grossing star of 2010.
