Gossip Girl angst queen Taylor Momsen is like a human quotes machine, and a dream for bloggers like me who need a good headline. At only 17-years-old she has said more inappropriate garbage than most drug-addled washed up has beens, which is no small feat. Today, it is being reported that she blames her parents. But is that really so far fetched?
“My parents signed me up with the Ford” modeling agency at the age of 2,” she was quoted by Newser. “No two-year-old wants to be working, but I had no choice. My whole life, I was in and out of school. I didn’t have friends. I was working constantly and I didn’t have a real life.”
Normally, I would call BS on the ‘blame my parents’ rhetoric, and I am half calling it now. But while her horrible attitude and constant attention whoring is probably more to do with her being an immature, spoiled little brat, I think her parents probably do have a certain amount of responsibility.
They forced her into the limelight at a young age and rode her coattails through show business. Who knows how she was brought up, but considering how horrible she is it seems like there may have been one or two malfunctions on the parenting front.
Some other Taylor Momsen gems:
- “To be honest, I don’t f***ing care. I didn’t get into this to be a role model. So I’m sorry if I’m influencing your kids in a way that you don’t like, but I can’t be responsible for their actions. I don’t care.”
- “I was raised Catholic—I f*cked a priest once. Just kidding.”
- “It [her vibrator] doesn’t talk back to me, so it’s really not a best friend…I think women should equally be allowed to pleasure themselves as much as men…It’s frustrating; I’m not a whore for masturbating, so f*ck you if you call me one.”
What I love so much is that she is going to eventually grow up, stop being such a little “hardcore” princess, and she is going to feel like an idiot. She puts way too much out into the press, and the I-don’t-care attitude only works for so long. Especially since she isn’t exactly an Oscar winner or world class composer, so her career is going to be flushed any day now.
Still, fun to write about…keep it up, Taylor!
