Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the rest of the Twilight Saga cast has begun filming in Rio de Janeiro’s bohemian Lapa district. Although many locals are thrilled that the most-sought after stars are in their vicinity, there’s also some people who aren’t please with the chaos, even burning up four portable public restrooms in protest (for blocking some streets to make way for the production).
The local film industry is ecstatic that The Twilight Saga is there. RioFilme’s director-president Sérgio Sá Leitão said on his Twitter that Sunday was “a wonderful day in Rio. Ideal for filmmaking. So far, everything [has been] going well with Fast Five and Breaking Dawn. Our efforts have paid off!”
On Sunday night and early Monday, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson shot the Lapa scenes, featuring the newlywed Bella and Edward walking on Rio’s eternal carnival. According to Ego, soundtrack for this scene include Tom Jobim’s “Girl from Ipanema,” and Roberto Carlos’ “Emoções.”
In other Breaking Dawn news, the production has tighten up security for the last films. They even hired Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart doubles, who were spotted at the Marina da Glória, so paparazzi would leave the real duo alone. The Marina is where Edward Cullen and Bella Swan will be seen for their boat ride to Isle Esme.
Pattinson and Stewart also shot the Isle Esme sequences in a small colonial village south of Rio Monday.
Production schedule for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is scheduled to wrap production on April 22, 2011.
