Taylor Swift has the world under her feet. First, Billboard.com reports that her new LP “Speak Now” is making its way to sell more than 1 million albums during its first week and even break 50 Cent’s “Massacre” which sold 1,141,000 albums on its first week in 2005. Swift has also landed a deal with Elizabeth Arden to get her own perfume.
Controversies related to Swift’s new album has helped generate a lot of buzz. Reports that her album “Speak Now” takes a dig on some of the people in her past, such as Taylor Lautner and John Mayer, on Swift’s songs. Even Camilla Belle, who dated Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas right after they split, is rumored to be featured on one of her songs.
Taylor Swift has kept silent about who she is referring to in her songs, even when she visited Ellen DeGeneres. Attempting to keep the focus on her album, Swift said: “It took two years to make this album, and at some point in the process, I made the conscious decision to write it by myself. With this album, it’s been such an emotional process. I’d have nightmares in the middle of the night that Rolling Stone hated it. I was really nervous about it, because taking this on, you’re taking a lot of ownership of whether people like it or don’t.”
In related news, the Grammy-award winning singer is reportedly getting her own line of fragrances with the help of Elizabeth Arden. Taylor said, “I’ve always loved how fragrance can shape a memory … the way certain scents remind you of events and people that are imprinted in your thoughts.” Her scent, which will reportedly hit shelves in the fall of 2011.
