Lisa Blount, who became well known for her role in An Officer and Gentleman before going on to win an Academy Award for The Accountant, was found dead of unknown causes, the Arkansas Online has confirmed.
The 53-year-old was alone at home at the time of her death, her husband being out of town at the time. It is believed that she died on Monday, though she wasn’t found for a few days.
Despite her young age there doesn’t appear to be any signs of foul play, though an autopsy is being done to confirm the actual cause of her death.
Blount was a very successful figure both in Hollywood, and in her home state of Arkansas. Starting out as an actress, she played both big and small roles on television and in movies, and then went on to become a producer, where The Accountant won an Oscar as Best Live Action Short Film.
I am always sad when I hear about people dying at such a young age. For some reason I keep thinking of her husband, Ray McKinnon, and how awful it must have been to find out that she was dead for days before her mother found her.
Our condolences to Lisa’s family.
