After reaching up to 3.7 million followers on Twitter, John Mayer has shut down his popular micro-blogging site.
It was reported on MTV News that John Mayer’s spokesperson stated that the 32-year-old singer made the decision to close down his page because his “Battle Studies” tour has now come to an end.
Mayer released “Battle Studies”, his latest album in November last year. He has been a devoted user of Twitter in the past year and he regularly posts on the site.
The musician caused controversy back in February during an interview for Playboy magazine after using what is believed to be a racist term. After that, the singer took his Twitter and made an apology to his fans, he wrote, “‘Re: using the ‘N word’ in an interview: I am sorry that I used the word. And it’s such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself. It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged”.
