With Jennifer Lopez removed from the list of potential American Idol judges, the latest prospect to be in talks with Fox is country star Shania Twain.
People.com reported that Twain is officially in talks to fill one of the seats on the judges table of Fox’s hit talent show. Last season, Shania served as guest judge at the Chicago auditions and mentored the contestants in April. The source close to the singer revealed to People: “Shania’s a huge fan of the show and she had a great time as a mentor.”
Fox has not confirmed any of the judges to replace Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres. Even Kara Dioguardi’s fate as a judge next season has yet to be announced, but reports have appeared that she was fired from the show and she read it in a newspaper. Since Cowell’s exit from the show, industry experts have said that Idol will probably be doing a complete shuffle of the show when it returns next fall.
Randy Jackson was the only one to comment on the upcoming season, but only said Ryan Seacrest was the only sure staff to go back for Idol’s 10th season. Fox and producers have remained silent on who they are considering for the new judges’ spot.
