Lady Gaga has released a length, visually controversial cinematic short for her single “Alejandro.”
The almost-9-minute video has some Madonna references, but the video itself shows Lady Gaga’s style as she wears black pants and a bra with strategically-placed machine guns. Despite the laid-back sound of the single, with a hint of “hot like Mexico,” the video for “Alejandro” is dark with drag undergarments and Gaga even carrying an initialed heart on a black satin pillow in front of a coffin.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, “Alejandro” director Steven Klein said that the design and tone for the opus was influenced by painters more so than musicians or film directors. The process, Klein said, “was to express Lady Gaga’s desire to reveal her heart and bear her soul.”
You may feel a bit uncomfortable to watch it at first, but once you have, you won’t be able to take your eyes off Gaga and what she’ll be doing next. Check it out here:
