Eminem released his much-anticipated music video for his latest single “Not Afraid,” a song from his upcoming album “Recovery.”
For months, clips for his Not Afraid video have been leaked on YouTube. Back in April, Eminem released the song “Despicable,” which earned positive reviews and left his fans anticipating the upcoming album. Eminem has higher hopes for his album Recovery and for his song Not Afraid, more so then he did for his other album Relapse.
A line from his ‘Not Afraid Song’ reads: “Let’s be honest, that last Relapse CD was ‘ehh’ / perhaps I ran them accents into the ground / relax I ain’t going back to that now.”
On the video, Eminem is seen standing on the rooftop of a skyscraper, looking down the street. At one point, he is seen throwing himself from the edge of a destroyed road. In an interview with Skyrock FM in Paris, Eminem said, “The overall concept is basically just being in a dark place and trying to get to the light.”
The music video is directed by Rich Lee and was filmed on the streets of Newark, New Jersey in May.
“Not Afraid” debuted atop Billboard Hot 100 and Digital Songs Chart, scoring the biggest sales week for 2010 with over 380,000 first-week downloads. Eminem’s album Recovery will hit stores on June 22nd.
