NBC Announces 12 new Scripted Series

With the cancelation of “Heroes,” “Mercy,” “Trauma,” and “Law & Order,” NBC is lining up 12 new scripted series next season, including seven series set for fall.

NBC Universal TV chief Jeff Gaspin said, “We really liked our development… and in the past, we had found ourselves halfway through the year without enough good shows to get us through the rest.”

Jay Leno’s former 10pm slot will be replaced with scripted series every weeknight. NBC revealed that Monday is themed action-adventure, while Wednesday is reserved for crime. Thursday will be the network’s comedy night with shows such as “30 Rock,” “The Office,” “Outsourced” and “Love, American Style,” among others. Three backup sitcoms are also available to reduce Thursday repeats.

“Law & Order: Los Angeles,” the new spinoff of the 20-season-old ‘Law & Order’ will be paired with SVU this fall. No word yet if “Heroes” will get a wrap-up movie.

New fall dramas include “The Event,” “Chase,” “Undercovers,” and “Outlaw.” Midseason backups include “Harry’s Law,” “The Cape,” “Perfect Couples,” “Friends with Benefits,” “The Paul Reiser Show,” and reality shows “The Marriage Ref,” “Celebrity Apprentice,” “Minute to Win it,” “America’s Next Great Restaurant,” and “School Pride.”
