Leno on Conan: I Knew He’d Land on His Feet

Conan now has a new home at the cable station TBS, and Jay Leno finally speaks about the funny redhead’s return to television.

“I knew he’d land on his feet,” says Leno. “It’ll be fun. Everybody will compete.”

Well, there’s going to be a stiffer competition this November, as Leno, Conan and fellow late night host David Letterman will all be grabbing for viewers at their 11th hour of the night. “11 o’clock is now the most exciting place to be.”

Leno also doesn’t think much about Conan’s move to cable TV, even if Fox already offered him a place to stay.

“I don’t know what to think,” he says. “I mean, well, FOX is network but they have cable too, so, you know, it’s all sort of the same now. Everybody sort of reaches the same thing, but I think it’s exciting. I think he’ll do well.”
