Simon Cowell may be leaving “American Idol” next season, but before he does, he wants one female pop sensation to be a guest mentor for the current contestants.
“I think we should have Lady Gaga,” he says at a conference call. “She is the most relevant pop artist in the world at the moment… and I’ve met her and she’s very smart. I like her.”
Also about female singers, back in the past weeks fellow judge Randy Jackson says he thinks a woman could win in this season’s contest. Simon also thinks about the same possibility.
“We’ve had a few years of guys winning the show and I would say there is definitely a better chance of a girl winning the show this year, certainly than last year,” he says.
“You want somebody who represents what is going on at the moment,” he adds. “I mean, look, I would love to find a Taylor Swift. Somebody who’s relevant rather than a contest winner.”
