It’s Valentine’s Day weekend, and of course, nothing else tops the box office but “Valentine’s Day”!
The all-star rom-com bagged $52.4 million in its opening weekend, placing first at the box office.
“To have a movie titled ‘Valentine’s Day’ on Valentine’s weekend was a no-brainer that absolutely worked,” says analyst Paul Dergarabedian.
The romance flick was directed by Garry Marshall, and it starred celebs such as Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, Julia Roberts, Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Jessica Biel, Taylor Swift, Taylor Lautner, Patrick Dempsey, Bradley Cooper, and Shirley McLaine.
Warner Bros., distributor of the said film, expects that it will reach $60 million after President’s Day, and it would even break the record set by “Ghost Rider” which garnered the $52 million mark back in 2007.
Running in second place is the action fantasy “Percy Jackson and & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” at $31.1 million, followed by “The Wolfman” with $30.6 million.
