Radio show host Howard Stern is thought to be the top choice to take over Simon Cowell’s slot as a judge on ‘American Idol’ as he leaves the show next year. And Howard’s looking forward to it.
“There’s not a better job on the planet than judging that f—ing karaoke contest,” says the 56-year old jock on his Sirius radio show. “It would be the best thing that happened to me. What a cush job-$100 million for four months. Who wouldn’t take that?”
But of course, Howard wants more than just the “job”. “They’d have to pay me a ton of dough because I already may a ton of dough,” he says. “A $100 million to judge a karaoke contest? Yeah, I would do that show for $100 million.”
The controversial host also says that he’d leave his radio show for “Idol”. Well, his $500 million contract with Sirius is set to expire by the end of 2010.
And of course, he’s sure he’s the right man for the job.
“If I do say so myself, I can’t imagine anyone else but me replacing [Cowell],” Howard shares his sentiments. “I mean, I don’t know. How else are they going to make that show work? Who knows how to broadcast and who knows how to be interesting? And who’s not afraid to speak their mind?”
Mediaweek TV editor Marc Berman also happens to agree with Howard.
“I probably can’t think of anybody better than him,” he says. “He would create a lot of controversy. If they’re looking to keep the show on the map, it’s not a bad idea.”
