Still waiting for Ellen to be part of the ‘American Idol’ panel of judges? Don’t worry, it’s just a few days more before you can see her sitting beside Kara, Randy, and of course, Simon.
While taping the contest’s “Hollywood Week,” Ellen was able to give some of her thoughts about being the new judge on the show.
“It’s really tough for me to walk that line of being the person who gives bad news [be]cause I hate hurting people’s feelings,” she said. “That I think, is the hardest part, giving the people that are disillusioned some eye opening remarks.”
During the taping, the judges had to filter out the Top 24 contestants, and she admits that she found some personal choices. “I think we have good people. [But] next year I’m gonna fight harder for a couple of people that went home last night that I wish I hadn’t sent home.”
Ellen also had something to say about Simon Cowell, especially now that rumors saying that she and the obnoxious judge were not really getting along that well.
“I had no idea of Simon when he came in and it has changed. He’s actually meaner than I thought,” she says about her first day of working with him. “It’s hard to listen to him tell people things and me not go ‘You poor thing!’ I’m getting good at actually delivering bad news myself, but I’m trying to do it in a tender way.”
