The Golden Globe for best musical or comedy actress went to Meryl Streep for her role as Julia Child in “Julie & Julia,” and she defeated contenders such as Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, Marion Cotlliard, and as well as herself.
Streep was also nominated in the same category for her role in the romance film “It’s Complicated.”
“I just want to say that in my long career, I’ve played so many extraordinary women that I’m getting mistaken for one,” she said in her speech. “I’m very clear that I’m the vessel for other people’s stories and other people’s lives.”
Sandra Bullock meanwhile took home the best drama actress award in “The Blind Side.” While she’s on a lucky streak in this year’s awards season, she says that she’s not really after the trophies-she’s just doing what she wants.
