
What happens when a star’s celebrity status actually “overshadows” the product he or she endorses? As the case of Angelina Jolie and the knitwear label St. John, the company chose to bid farewell to the A-list celeb.
Angie will no longer be part of the brand’s ads anymore, as according to sources, her contract with the company has already expired since 2008.
St. John CEO Glenn McMahon also expressed his views on why the company removed the high-profile star, stating that Angie “overshadowed the brand.”
“We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.”
The company made it clear however that they and Angie are “all on good terms.”
