Who do you think did the audiences vote for at the 35 categories of the 2009 People’s Choice Awards?
The awards night held on Wednesday served as the place for the people to honor their favorite shows and personalities of 2009.
For the silver screen categories, Sandra Bullock received two awards, for favorite movie actress and favorite comedy movie. “Twilight” actor Taylor Lautner received the breakout movie actor trophy, while Jim Carrey was voted favorite male star. Miley Cyrus on the other hand bagged the breakout movie actress award, and Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” was named favorite independent movie.
Winners in the world of television meanwhile include “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” for favorite talk show, “The Dog Whisperer” for favorite animal show, and “American Idol” for favorite TV competition. Actor Steve Carrell was hailed favorite TV comedy actor for “The Office” Alyson Hannigan for favorite TV comedy actress in “How I Met Your Mother,” and “Supernatural” was named favorite sci-fi fantasy series.
TV newbie “Glee” meanwhile was tagged as best new comedy.
Other winners include Lady Gaga for favorite pop artist and favorite breakout artist, Paramore for favorite rock group and Eminem for favorite male hip-hop artist. Rihanna was crowned favorite female hip-hop artist, while she and Kanye West were voted for best music collaboration.
And as expected, Ashton Kutcher got the no. 1 web celeb award thanks to Twitter.
The show was hosted by Queen Latifah and was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
