Due to complaints from the state’s residents claiming that reality series “Jersey Shore” is full of sex and not-so-TV oriented topics, the show has loses a major sponsor-Domino’s.
“No advertiser has specifically pulled full sponsorship from the show. Domino’s had indicated that they just did not want to run of schedule spots running during “Jersey Shore,” so they are not currently scheduled there,” says a released statement coming from a rep for MTV.
Tom McIntryre, Domino’s vice president of communications, confirmed to TV Guide.com on Friday about their decision not to run ads during the said show. “One of the ads happened to show up and once we saw what the program was, we decided that the content wasn’t in keeping with what we’re all about.”
Just a day after the show’s premiere, UNICO, the largest Italian-American service group in the U.S., said that they have received a lot of calls from Italian-Americans complaining about its racy, outrageous content. “Italian Americans are outraged and they are helping us reach out to sponsors to ask them to stop advertising with MTV until they agree to pull Jersey Shore,” says a rep for the organization.
UNICO started to urge the network to stop running the series-which focuses on the lives of some Italian-American twentysomethings who live on the Jersey Shore-and did nothing but party the night away.
“Jersey Shore may not be for every sponsor or advertiser and we understand that. We try to provide a variety of environments for our advertisers and it’s never a ‘one size fits all’ scenario with MTV.”
