Zurich- Director Roman Polanski won’t be enjoying an Alpine vacation after the Swiss government overturns decision to set him free for house arrest.
According to reports, the renowned film director will not be going to his luxury chalet as he has not yet posted his bail amounting to $4.5 million. Even so, electronic monitoring still has to be set up in his home in Gstaad.
The 76-year old film director is facing extradition against the United States in order to avoid a criminal sentence brought by his controversial unlawful sex case with a minor back in 1977. While he pleaded guilty of the charges, he fled to Europe before the trial concluded.
Polanski is holding dual Polish and French citizenship, and was recently arrested in Switzerland on September 26. He was in the country to receive a lifetime honorary award.
When extradited, he could face up to two years in prison in the U.S.
