First Lady Michelle Obama is quite known for her high risk fashion ideas, which makes her a rather progressive fashion icon as compared with the past first ladies. She, however, made a big change upon welcoming India’s first couple in a state dinner on Tuesday night.
Mrs. Obama looked nevertheless glamorous in a strapless golden gown created by Indian-American designer Naeem Khan. Thanks to his choice of elegance in terms of cut, fabric and embellishments, the First Lady was able to impress not only the media but more importantly, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife, Mrs. Gursharan Kaur.
The floor-length dress glowed in a subdued gold shade, and it was made more elegant with a light-colored shawl. Her overall looked was complemented by a classy dignified updo and light makeup, thus making the First Lady the new poster girl for glam and sophistication.
But of course, some of her signature style trends remain present, such as the chandelier earrings and those gold-diamond bangles. And yes, Mrs. Obama is also known for choosing lesser-known names when it comes to her wardrobe. Khan, on the other hand, may not have been that felt in the fashion industry as compared with his contemporaries, but he has already provided designs for celebs such as Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Carrie Underwood-not to mention royalties, including Queen Noor of Jordan.
