MTV will air Michael Jackson’s final performance on TV. The network has just acquired exclusive U.S. television rights to the posthumous documentary “Michael Jackson’s This is It.”
Although the much-anticipated “This is It” concert movie didn’t reach blockbuster status, it did perform well at the box office. Since MTV has helped Michael Jackson’s career with his classic ‘Thriller’ video and other hits during the 1980s, it just seems right that the network honors MJ with his final concert.
MTV’s sister networks such as VH1, BET and Palladia also will have rights to air the film.
“This Is It” was shot from March to June. It featured concert rehearsals and behind-the-scenes footage as Jackson prepared for his planned comeback concert in London.
