Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin says that she wasn’t aware that her daughter Bristol was already sexually active with then boyfriend Levi Johnston.

Thus, when her 17-year old darling got pregnant, Palin was “shocked” and “devastated.”

“Truthfully, we were devastated,” says the lady politician in her upcoming five-part interview series with Barbara Walters to air on “Good Morning America” beginning this Tuesday.

Her teenage daughter’s unexpected pregnancy caused a big controversy back in 2008, as it was the time when her Palin was running for vice-presidency. The now 18-year old gave birth to a boy named Tripp in December. A few months after, she and boyfriend Levi Johnston have broken up.

As for Johnston, who bagged an award for posing in Playgirl magazine this week, the 19-year old says he is about to file for joint custody of his son as the Palin clan refuses to let him see the child.

Palin however says Johnston is still “part of the family” and is as well welcome to join the family for Thanksgiving.

Johnston meanwhile has a different take on his supposed mother-in-law.
