Losing weight is not an overnight process, but rather a journey that can be long and winding for some-even for actress Kirstie Alley. As the public has witnessed her battle to retrieve her once perfect figure and subsequently her frustration in getting back all the pounds she has already lost, Alley is now off to star in a reality docu-series that will thread on her life-as a woman, a mother, and her fight to slim down.

The A&E network has just ordered 10 30-minute episodes of the yet-to-be-named series from FremantleMedia North America, the producers of “American Idol,” which is aimed to chronicle Alley’s daily life together with her teenage kids as well as her efforts in launching a new weight-loss project.

Alley, 58, became known for her starring roles in comedy shows such as “Cheers” and “Vernica’s Closet.” She also appeared on the comedy series “Fat Actress” back in 2005 where she played the role of an actress who was trying to get thin in order to score a Hollywood stint.

She was also one of the spokespersons for the Jenny Craig weight loss program.
