Justin Timberlake has been granted a temporary restraining order against a woman described by his lawyer as “an obsessed, mentally unstable stalker.”
According to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, a 48-year-old woman named Karen McNeil broke into the singer’s LA home for the third time last week. The papers stated “Ms. McNeil’s motivation and obsession have become more ominous, intrusive and threatening.”
In June, the woman appeared at Timberlake’s home twice, once leaving a letter characterized in court papers as “bizarre.” The court order said,“McNeil’s ever-increasing, aggressive and harassing conduct has become extremely frightening,” adding that Timberlake “fears for the personal safety of himself, his family and employees.”
Now, McNeil has been ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Timberlake. Since McNeil was believed to be homeless, she was placed in protective psychiatric custody by police after the incident last Thursday.
A hearing in November was set, where Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Cunningham will consider whether to grant Justin Timberlake a three-year restraining order against McNeil.
