Newark mayor Cory A. Booker appeared on “The Tonight Show” Friday to call a truce to his feud with Conan O’Brien, who donated $100k to Booker’s foundation.

The feud began September 23 with O’Brien joking that Booker’s new health care program only consisted of a bus ticket out of Newark, which is just west of New York City. In response, Booker made a YouTube video in which he banned the “Tonight Show” show from stepping on Newark Liberty International Airport and even the state of New Jersey.

When O’Brien asked why he was being singled out for joking about Newark on Friday’s show, saying “Many jokes are made about Newark by comedians. You honed in on me like a cruise missile. Why me, Mayor Booker?” Mr. Booker replied, “When there’s a herd going after you, you have to sort of look at the weakest gazelle.”

Conan O’Brien then decided to make amends and forked over a $100,000 charitable donation and said that it was the most “expensive joke I’ve ever told.”
