Mel Gibson’s DUI Charges Erased

Mel Gibson's DUI Record Gone

The Oscar-winner’s drunk-driving charges in 2006, which Gibson had served community service for three years, has been erased from his record.

Gibson’s lawyer has confirmed that he has requested the dismissal after the star had successfully completed the terms of his probation. Mel Gibson reportedly attended Alcoholics Anonymous for three years and has performed public service.

In 2006, Mel Gibson was put under fire when the police report leaked and quoted the actor making anti-Semitic comments to the arresting officer in California, who was Jewish. Since then, Gibson has apologized for the remarks, saying the outburst did not reflect his true views. Gibson had pleaded no contest to the driving 87 mph with an open bottle of tequila in his hand. During the arrest, the actor had a 0.12 blood alcohol content.

Since Mel Gibson was a first-time drink-driving offender, he was entitled to have his conviction expunged after completing his probation. However, should the actor be arrested again in a drunk-driving case, he could face more serious charges in the future.
