With Kate saying that Jon Gosselin has emptied their joint bank account, while planning to take legal action, Jon denies the accusations and says Kate is lying.
Last Thursday, Jon Gosselin decided to fight TLC by asking them not to film on his Pennsylvania property with a cease-and-desist order from Jon’s attorney, after the network renamed the show as ‘Kate Plus 8.’ Jon Gosselin told Larry King that he hasn’t gotten along with TLC executives since January and that they’d put him on “house arrest” and assign him a bodyguard to prevent him from going out and socializing.
Then the following day, Kate says Jon has emptied their joint bank account, withdrawing $230,000 without authorization and leaving only a mere $1,000. Kate told NBC Monday, “He took $230,000 of the $231,000 we had. I have a stack of bills. The last thing I wanted was to do this show and end up not being able to pay our bills.”
Kate’s lawyer Marty Singer told People magazine that Jon Gosselin didn’t notify his ex-wife about the withdrawal before taking the money from their account last week, even though a court stipulated it must approve such transactions. Singer added that he expects Kate Gosselin’s family law attorney to go to court Monday to argue that Jon Gosselin be held in contempt.
Kate has ordered that the $230,000 is returned to the account within the next 24 hours and that Jon sells his two fancy cars – which include a BMW and a Mercedes.
To counter Kate’s allegations, Jon told The Insider Monday, “A total fabrication. I withdrew $22,000 last Thursday. I have the paper trail to prove it.” He added, “I’ve never taken any money out because over 10 years, Kate handled all the banking. Over the past four years of doing the show, we accrued $2,250,000. She says in the past week I took $230,000. I have withdrawn roughly $177,000 over the course of a year, which is less than 10 percent of what we made. That’s like my paycheck.”
Jon goes on to say that he suspects his wife is the one whose numbers don’t add up. He said, “She’s hiding money. We have 11 bank accounts. That was just our joint account. She had a best-selling book. Where’s that million dollars? I believe she’s incriminating herself and not thinking clearly. She’s wanting me to look bad. I didn’t want these things to come public. I didn’t want this to be embarrassing for her.”
