Edward Furlong, the actor known for Terminator 2 and American History X, has been in the headlines for rumors of a psychiatric breakdown and lockdown in a psych hospital after fighting with his estranged wife. Now, although the actor’s ex-wife has been granted a restraining order against Furlong, the actor is claiming that he isn’t a threat to her and their son.
A California judge signed a temporary order at the behest of Rachael Kneeland, who accuses her soon-to-be ex Furlong of hitting her in a drug-fueled rage. However, Furlong’s rep disputes the allegations and is seeking to overturn the order, blaming the couple’s bitter split for the order sought. Unfortunately for Edward Furlong, he cannot come within 100 yards of Rachel Kneeland and has been stripped of visitation rights for their son Ethan Page, who just turned 3 last September 21.
Kneeland claims that Furlong’s “drug use has escalated along with attacking me and threatening my life.” According to papers filed, during a Sept. 23 incident, the 32-year-old Furlong “grabbed me, bruised me, pushed me…[and] left messages saying he would hire people to come and beat me with chains and bats.” She added, “He is smoking cocaine and doing other various drugs. He is very unpredictable.”
Kneeland, who is known professionally as Rachael Bella of ‘The Ring,’ says that she was forced to call police after Edward threatened suicide. She also claims that Furlong is now in a lockdown on a mental institution, but Team Furlong begs to differ.
According to Furlong’s rep R.J. Russo, “Mr. Furlong vehemently denies all allegations that have been made and is currently working with his legal team to have this temporary restraining order extinguished. Unfortunately, the two parties are going through a very contentious divorce and custody battle. Eddie’s main concern is his son, Ethan, and moving forward with his life.” Russo also claimed that Furlong “has been sober for more than five years and is preparing to begin production on a new film.”
A hearing on the restraining order has been scheduled for Oct. 20.
