Chris Brown began community labor as his sentence for assaulting Rihanna. Brown will be providing service in Richmond Virginia with cameras following the singer around as he cleared weeds.

Brown was sentenced 180 days of community labor, which began on Wednesday. The 20-year-old singer hauled broken metal fencing, hacked at weeds and even smiled at the cameras filming his work. With only a white tank top, a red baseball hat and black jeans, Chris Brown worked under the Virginia sun as police looked on.

While extra security has been required to supervise the celebrity during community labor, Richmond Police spokesperson Gene Lepley said that the costs are being tabulated, and Brown will be responsible for the entire bill.

After a day of community service, Chris Brown posted on his website a photo of his labor with the message: “Stop and think back to the last time you accepted responsibility for something. Undertaking responsibility for each one of your actions is a difficult task, but by admitting your mistakes, you are taking your life to a higher level of accountability.”
