Katherine Heigl, star of the hit medical series “Grey’s Anatomy,” will be adopting a Korean baby this week, together with her husband, singer-songwriter Josh Kelley. The two soon-to-be parents are the latest celebrity couple to adopt a child from a foreign country, next to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
According to Heigl, she and her hubby have always thought about adopting a child. The couple, who have been married for nearly 2 years, will be welcoming a Korean baby girl whom they will name “Naleigh.” They are currently in the process of finishing the paperwork, as the baby is a special needs child and needs to be given utmost love and care as soon as possible.
Heigl revealed at the “Ellen DeGeneres Show” that she and Kelley haven’t met the baby yet, but they will be taking their Korean baby “really very soon.”
Heigl, who also starred in the romantic comedy “The Ugly Truth,” grew up with an adopted sister who also hailed from Korea. With regards to adopting the baby, she explains, “We started talking about adoption even before we were engaged because it’s really important to me… I just wanted to make sure that I was marrying a guy who understands that this was going to have to happen.”
Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley have tied the knot back in 2007. They first met when she starred in Kelley’s music video for the song “Only You,” released in 2005.
