Gina Carano is one of the most talked-about MMA female stars, after appearing in several magazines and kicking ass on the ring. Although she recently suffered a setback in her primary career when she had a 1st Round TKO loss to Cris Santos last month, female mixed martial arts sensation Gina Carano has signed-on to play the lead in director Steven Soderbergh’s latest film, “Knockout.”
According to Variety, Carano will be playing “a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who is given a second chance to use her skills for constructive purposes.” Carano first graced the small screen on the NBC series “American Gladiators.”
Soderbergh, who is known for looking outside of the traditional Hollywood actors and actresses, has hired adult star Sasha Grey for her first mainstream role in Soderbergh’s last film “The Girlfriend Experience,” so putting Carano in the lead of his upcoming film isn’t as shocking as everyone may think.
Filming for “Knockout” starts late January in Turkey and Ireland.
