Ellen DeGeneres has passed on her three-year crown of Emmy’s “Best Talk Show” to Rachael Ray.

On the red carpet before the show, Rachael Ray said, “You know, I’m so bad at memorization and our show is completely unscripted, so I’m just going to go up, and if something nice happens like that then we’ll just go with our gut.”

After her win at Sunday’s 36th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, Rachael Ray said, “I’m just thankful to have a job in the recession and be working.”

Other winners include Tyra Banks, Meredith Viera, and ‘The View’ hosts Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeckand Sherri Shepherd. ‘Sesame Street’ won a lifetime achievement award with Big Bird making an appearance.

The 36th annual Daytime Emmy Awards was held at downtown Los Angeles’s historic Orpheum Theater and aired on the CW network. It was hosted by Vanessa Williams.
