With the overwhelming fans that flooded the Comic-Con last year and last month, Summit Entertainment has decided to hold its own convention dedicated only for Stephenie Meyer’s international hit vampire saga.
Summit has partnered with Creation Entertainment to stage 20 events across North America in the next three years. The first convention took place last week in Phoenix, where Chaske Spencer and Christian Serratos, who play Sam Uley and Angela Weber showed up at the event. It will be followed by conventions in New Jersey, Chicago and Vancouver, where the Twilight Saga cast is currently gathered to shoot “Eclipse,” the third film in the saga.
The conventions promise to provide exclusive screenings, panel discussions, auctions, musical performances, parties and appearances of the Twilight stars. In 2010, the conventions will be held in Miami, Seattle, Atlanta, Nashville and back in Vancouver.
Although the Twilight panel discussions in Comic-Con will continue in 2010, the success of the “TwiCon” convention may not be repeated as Summit will be officially holding its own events. The New Jersey convention, which will be held in late August, has tentatively announced that Rathbone, Lutz, Ashley Greene and Billy Burke, among others, will appear, pending availability.
