Alex Da Silva, who has been the “So You Think You Can Dance” salsa, mambo and Argentine tango choreographer for the show, was arrested at his North Hollywood home earlier this morning on several serious charges, including rape, allegedly perpetrated against four different young women.
The LA District Attorney’s Office charged Silva with eight felony counts – four counts of forcible rape, two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object. According to police reports, the alleged assaults were committed against women around 20 to 26 years old, all of whom are dancers and all of whom Silva met through his self-taught dance classes. All charges against Silva allegedly took place sometime between August 2002 and March 209.
The 41-year-old dance instructor was arrested back in April for the same charges. Now, he is currently being held on $6.2 million bail. If convicted on the charges, Silva could face life in prison.
Alex Da Silva worked as a choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance between 2005 and 2008.
