After the summer vacation and becoming first-time mothers, Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders are now back on the set of ‘How I Met Your Mother’ with the entire gang, of course. Another reason to celebrate is the show is up for their first Emmy nod in the ‘best comedy’ category.
When asked about the show’s nomination, Alyson Hannigan tells People mag, “It’s so nice that it finally gets recognition. Instead of being a little show, we’re finally like, ‘We’re in that club, we get to go to that party!’”
HIMYM co-star Neil Patrick Harris also earned his third Emmy nomination this year for ‘best supporting actor in a comedy.’ He will also be hosting the Emmys for the first time this year. He said, “I’ve thought about it an insane amount. I know a lot of things that might happen, but nothing has been locked down.”
However, Harris only plans to do on one thing come Emmy night – to keep the show moving. He added, “I’ve always been less enthusiastic [about] stand-ups [who] host, because they feel obliged to show how funny they are during the process. I think it’s more about keeping things at a tight clip and making sure the audience at home is having a good time.”
CBS will air the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET
