Michael Jackson isn’t buried yet, but his film has been given a go signal with one of the toughest release dates at the box office – October 30.
Sony Pictures confirmed that they will be releasing a movie with shots taken from the behind-the-scenes and rehearsal footage while Jackson was preparing his 50-concert “This is It” performance in London.
Sony has paid $60 million to ‘This is It’ producer AEG and the Jackson estate for the rights of the footages. Although the deal has been confirmed last month, it was only approved by an LA Superior Court judge earlier today.
The film, which will be called “This is It” is scheduled for a worldwide released on October 30, Friday. Sony is also expected to tie the movie with Jackson’s Halloween-oriented album and its hit video “Thriller.” It has also been reported that some shots in the movie will be in digital 3D.
Sony is also reportedly in negotiations with “High School Musical” director Kenny Ortega, Jackson’s creative partner on the concert series, to direct the movie.
