Michael Jackson’s sister LaToya and brother Jermaine are on the headlines today because the two are allegedly cashing in on Michael’s death. LaToya reportedly took the hard disk of MJ’s computer, which included all unreleased songs of Michael. Jermaine is apparently planning to get a deal for a series of tribute concerts and has landed a deal to release the song “Smile,” the exact song he performed at MJ’s public memorial on July 7.

Rolling Stone Magazine reports that when the Jackson family was “temporarily” in charge of Michael’s estate, LaToya Jackson took numerous items from MJ’s rented Encino home. Included in the items taken were an estimated 100+ unreleased songs by Michael Jackson himself, some even from the ‘Bad’ and ‘Thriller’ recording sessions, while others from collaborations with Akon, Ne-Yo and the Black Eyed Peas. MJ’s manager Frank DiLeo has stated that the estate lawyers will be sending out letters to recover these hard drives that contain the songs and it might become a huge battle in determining who will possess the rights to those songs.

Jermaine Jackson announced on Larry King (aired tonight August 7) that he has bagged a deal to release the single “Smile” and is planning a series of tribute concerts for his brother Michael. According to sources on Larry King, right before the interview, Jermaine had been making calls to artists who were supposed to perform at the “This is It Tour,” telling them that the tribute concerts would be part of the World Music Awards. However, there isn’t truth to Jermaine’s alleged statements since the WMA has turned down a Jackson family appearance at the show.

Janet Jackson, however, is invited to the World Music Awards to accept an award on behalf of MJ, who was scheduled to receive a WMA award before his death.
