Stephenie Meyer has officially beaten J.K. Rowling’s record – all four books from the Twilight series has been included in USA Today’s Best-Selling Books list in the last 12 months.
Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn have been in the top 10 for 52 consecutive weeks. All books have been in the top 4 spots for a total of 13 weeks in the past year. With more products recently added, such as the ‘Eclipse’ trade paperback, the Breaking Dawn Special Edition, the Twilight Journals and New Moon Collector’s Edition, the Twilight books are expected to dominate the list until 2010.
Compared to JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series, the Twilight books have more staying power in ‘best-selling’ lists. However, the comparison of sales may not be fair since Rowling has seven books on her Harry Potter series with over 140 million copies sold and has been attracting fans since 1997, while Meyer has only sold about 40 million of her four books since she released the first book only in 2005.
