The hearing about Michael Jackson’s estate, kids and money owed began earlier today with several issues being settled, but proceedings will continue next week (August 10, Monday) since not all of the issues were put on the table. Here are the main things discussed and settled in court today:
First, Katherine Jackson has officially become the permanent guardian to Michael’s three kids – Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket. Debbie Rowe will get visitation with Prince Michael and Paris. Both Paris and Prince Michael will receive psychological assistance while dealing with their birth mother reentering their life to determine the length and frequency of Rowe’s visits. Allowances for MJ’s three kids and Katherine Jackson will be deducted from estate funds.
As for the will, the judge has officially admitted MJ’s will to Probate Court, marking the start of the 120-day clock before the distribution of property and assets will be made. Katherine Jackson’s attorney did not object. Branca and McCain remain the executors to Jackson’s estate temporarily – 60 days to be exact.
As for the people Michael Jackson owed, the judge granted Michael Charles LaPerruque $30,000 as payment for his services while working for Jackson as a security specialist between 2001-2004 and 2007-2008.
On August 10, all attorneys and people involved in Michael Jackson’s estate will come back to court to determine who will be named permanent executors of MJ’s estate.
