
Beijing, China- The famous martial-arts flick “The Karate Kid” will be having a Chinese adaptation, with Jackie Chan and Will Smith’s son Jaden to take on the lead roles.
Jackie will be playing the role of the Chinese “Mr. Miyagi,” which was first portrayed by Pat Morita back in 1984. His disciple meanwhile will be played by Jaden Smith.
The production for the said movie already began, celebrated by a traditional Chinese ceremony on Saturday.
“Kung Fu Kid,” is to be directed by Harald Zwart, whose works include “One Night at McCool’s” and “The Pink Panther 2.”
The original flick, “The Karate Kid,” revolved around the lives of Morita and his student, Ralph Macchio, whom he trained to become an accomplished martial-arts fighter.
