The King of Pop planned to do a short duet with his eldest son Prince, 12, in his upcoming concerts in London’s O2 Arena, only he did not live long enough to do so.
“He was planning on doing a short duet with his son, Prince,” says his publicist, Stuart Backerman. “He knew his kids would enjoy it.”
“He wanted his kids to see him perform at least once to get the vibe of the Michael Jackson mania,” he added. Michael Jackson has not been on stage since 2001, after a series of tribute concerts in New York City.
Michael died on June 25 due to cardiac arrest, and according to his will, his kids will be under the custody of his mother, Katherine. If Katherine couldn’t serve as legal guardian for his children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, he named Diana Ross to take care of them.
He “intentionally” didn’t include Debbie Rowe, mother of Prince and Paris, from his will.
According to Michael’s dad, Joe, the kids “are happy” despite their father’s unexpected death. The kids are with “the other younger ones in the Jackson family… They were never around other kids.”
