New York, New York-Rihanna may have had the time of her life tattooing a number of people at East Side Ink last Wednesday, but the state’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene are not happy about it.

According to MTV News, a person who conducts tattoo sessions without a license is illegal, thus Rihanna, who was even taped making body art on several people at the popular tattoo parlor, can be considered a law breaker.

“Only licensed tattoo artists can administer tattoos in the city according to the City’s Health Code,” says the NYDHMH in a statement. “We are sending someone to follow up on this.”

Yadira, owner of the famous tattoo parlor, meanwhile said that Rihanna, along with some friends, came to the shop and stayed for “a few hours, just hanging out and joking.”

The parlor’s resident tattoo artist, BangBang, said that he wanted the singer to make a tattoo on him. He was the one who designed the gun tattoo on the singer’s arm earlier this year.

The tattoo fun can however lead to a fine, with penalties ranging from $300 to $1,000.

Rihanna’s reps still have made no comment about the issue.
