Los Angeles, Calif.-Michael Jackson was known for his signature dance moves, hit songs, and his use of certain accessories, most notable of which is the “Suit of Light” gloves-and one of them is about to be on sale.
“The Gloved One,” as Jackson was famously called, once hired designer Ted Shell to create a pair of electric white gloves which he wore on the Jacksons’ 1984 Victory Tour.
When the tour ended, Jackson gave Shell one of the two gloves and kept the other.
Now, Ted Shell’s glove is consigned to auctioneer Joseph Maddalena of Profiles in History, which will be among the King of Pop’s items to be put on sale this coming October 1 and 2.
The glove is no ordinary white glove, as it is embellished with bugle beads, Austrian crystal rhinestones, and contains 50 small lights that work through a small battery inside the glove’s cuff. The light bulbs twinkle at random to create a special impact on stage.
“I estimate at $60,000 to $80,000, but it could sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars,” says Maddalena.
Other items included for auction are Jackson’s costumes, as well as well as the platinum record for the 20 millionth copy of “Thriller.”.
