Los Angeles, Calif.-The alien robots made it to the box office once again-a sweeter revenge with $200 million ticket sales during the first five days after opening.
“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” garnered a whopping $112 million in domestic sales alone during the opening day, and sales have nearly doubled at $201.2 million for the first five days. This box office success now runs second to last year’s “The Dark Knight,” which got$203.8 million.
The film, which transformed robots into superstars, now holds the biggest weekend box office of the year, going beyond the success of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” which gained just $85.1 million.
The hit action-adventure movie, which features Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, also runs second to “The Dark Knight,” when it comes to opening day sales: “The Dark Knight gained $67.2 million, while “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” gained only $60.6 million.
