Los Angeles, Calif.- After making the announcement that Jon and Kate Gosselin that they are getting a divorce, the couple’s divorce papers have become available on Wednesday.
The couple has “lived separate and apart for at least two years,” according to the papers.
This does not mean that the couple has already separated for two years, legal experts say. What it means is that if the court proves that the couple has been separated for two years, Kate would be given a no-fault divorce, even if husband Jon doesn’t want to get one.
How did they tell their children that they are separating?
According to Galina Espinoza, senior editor of People magazine, the couple revealed the news to their children without using the words “divorce” or “separating.”
The news was first told to twins, Mady and Cara. Mady took it calmly, while Cara broke down and cried.
“Daddy’s not going to be here all the time,” was what they said to their children.
The sextuplets were already acting strange when Jon and Kate revealed that they are leaving each other. Both parents plan to keep their children in the same house while they take schedules in spending time with them.
