Los Angeles, Calif.-Tom Cruise might be back in the big screen- as agent Ethan Hunt.
A rep from Paramount Pictures, producers of the “Mission Impossible” franchise, confirmed that a fourth film is undergoing planning and discussions.
“It’s in the discussion stage,” says the rep. “Nothing green-lit.”
According to TV Guide however, J.J. Abrams, writer and director of “M:I III,” was assigned to produce the film.
“Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing,” says Abrams, who just became totally free from directing “Star Trek”. “I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer.”
If he would reprise his role as a director, that’s something which wasn’t disclosed.
“I would work with him again in an instant,” Abrams says gleefully. “I hope I get the shot. I could not have had a better time working with him.”
